Cast steel shot

Steel shot is one of the most widely abrasives to be used in the process of cleaning, stripping and improving the strength of metal surfaces. The size of the steel abrasive determines the extent to which the desired surface cleanliness is achieved .The round shape of the steel shot produces a clean, smooth and polished surface. In a peening application, by discharging impact energy on metallic surfaces, improved compressive and fatigue strength of specimens and parts.

Produced Steel shot by Akbari Metal Melt, to be made of high carbon steel. It has uniform granulation and metallurgic ally, has a tempered martensite structure. Based on its nature and due to its appropriate strength and hardness, has a unique impact on fatigue resistance and energy absorption. Akbari Metal Melt steel Shot has excellent durability and long life during the work process and its use is completely economical. In addition to above mentioned properties, the uniform sphericity of this type of abrasive has led to the balance of the operational mix and its widespread application in shot peening operations.

 Advantages of using steel shot

  • Durability and long working life and High recyclability
  • Can be used on Wheel Blast Machines and Pressure Operated Blast Systems.
  • High density and strength that increases cleaning rate with low dust
  • Low price in terms of efficiency compared to other abrasives.
  • Reduce environmental hazards due to minimal pollution during consuming.

Steel shot are generally divided into two groups in terms of hardness:

1- Normal (L), hardness number in the range of 390-530 Vickers scale

2- Medium (M), hardness number in the range of 470-610 Vickers scale
